Window Shadowbox by Nancy

Hello Crafty Friends!  Today I am sharing a customized version of our Window Shadowbox.   This was an original piece that I'd had in my stash for quite some time, just waiting for that right moment of inspiration to come along.  In this version of the shadowbox, there is a dividing shelf across the center creating two areas to decorate.  You can request to have your shadowbox divided in the center as in this piece, or you can purchase it the way it is currently shown in the store, with no center shelf, to create a large window view of anywhere your imagination takes you.

I kept the chipboard technique simple on this piece because lots was already going on inside the box.  I covered all of my chipboard with a light coat of gesso using a dry brush, script stamped with perfect medium, then colored with perfect pearls.  Simple but effective, this technique worked perfectly to compliment this piece.

Altered Cigar Box Cross Promotional Project by Kathi

Kathi here to share my last cross promotional project with Craftsupplies1, an altered cigar box.

Using the flat red lace,  I created a handmade flower with a streamer descending from the bottom.  In the center of the flower I have a pearl center and a butterfly resting on the flower.  I placed a stacked flourish off to the left side.  The flower is resting on a large crocheted doily that I received in a swap. I painted the butterfly scribbled frame, and added a photo mat behind it. I placed two metal butterflies from Craftsupplies1 in the lower right corner.

Here is a close up of scribbled butterfly frame, and the butterfly has distressed stickles painted on it.
Here is one of Gina's new stacked flourishes with one layer painted with white gesso and the other with black gesso.
Inside of the lid, I used Gina's textured sheet, painted with white gesso.  Layered on top is a red doily and on top of the doily I placed a dressform and a frame.

After the chipboard pieces were painted,  I distressed the dress form and placed the word love over the bodice along with a flower bunch and a flower cameo. A rose bunch was placed on the lower right which is from Craftsupplies1.

Layout by Donna and Cross Promotion Projects by the Craftsupplies1 Team

Hello Friends!  Today we have lots of inspiration to share.  First up we have our team member Donna sharing a gorgeous layout, and following that we are sharing more of the amazing October cross promotional projects created by the team at Craftsupplies1.

It's Donna here today to share a fall layout using one of Gina's beautiful flourished frames.

I wanted to keep this layout very simple because I wanted the gorgeous Flourished Frame - Bella to be the star of the show! It's a really beautiful design!

I prepared the chipboard frame with a coat of white gesso. I then painted it with Tattered Angels, Palm leaf, glitter paint. While still wet, I added pine needles and orange embossing powder.

I only glued the middle frame part down so that I could pull up and lightly twist up the leaves.

Thank you so, so much for stopping by Gina's and taking a look at my Fall layout!

Hello friends! Today we would like to share more of the truly amazing projects by the Craftsupplies1 team for our Cross Promotional this month. We have been so inspired by Julie's team and are so grateful for all their hard work and creativity!
Here we have a dual take on our large alarm clock. The left hand side is created by Becky C, and on the right by Corene P. These ladies have done an outstanding job and really have shown the versatility of this piece. Great work Ladies!

Here is the link to their videos

Design team member Becky has also created this truly inspired box using one of our book boxes and some fun items from our store, including one of our dress forms and also one of the gears borders and corners. We love the earthy tones and gorgeous flowers from Craftsupplies1.

Next up we have two of our standing dress forms decorated by Codi and Heather.  They are truly inspired work! On the left is Codi's take with a lovely shabby and chic look and on the right is Heather's vintage steampunk look. They are truly amazing creations!
Below are the links to their videos

Next up we have a wonderful creative take on our large spool.  This was created by DT Member Codi as well. She has incorporated our trees and given them some sparkle and shine! We love the fantasy look of the spool and the Craftsupplies1 parchment flowers add a gorgeous finishing touch.

And last but not least we have some fun and different projects from Ashley B. and Kristina O.
Ashley has stepped outside of the box creating these very cool canvas'. She has done them up in a shabby tea theme, with some of the tea string alongs, and alarm clock frame ups.  They would look amazing hanging in any kitchen or tea room!
On the right Kristina has altered one of our ATC shrines. We love the pretty in pink tones, which mix with some of the new fabric flowers that Craftsupplies1 has in stock.

Thank you so much to all the talented Designers from Craftsupplies1 and also to owner Julie as well. We are truly inspired by all of your work!  For more information on these projects please check out the videos linked above.

Halloween Projects by Deann and a Layout by Lynne

Good morning, Deann here with a cute little witch photo or note holder.
I used the Be Witched Shape Set  and a clothespin.

I also made a matching gift bag.

I finished the set off with a really awesome Halloween card.
I used a Spiderweb from the Spiderweb Shape Set as the stop for the back of the card, this gives it an easel effect.
The photo is framed with a Flourished Frame-Evie (coming soon)
I took the photo at a Haunted Manor in Ohio

Hi! Lynne here with a layout I created using a photo of my daughter and her boyfriend on the boardwalk at Point Pelee Provincial park this past summer. I was glad to find the perfect page for the fabulous Cattails piece that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it!

I spread texture paste on the cattails and the butterfly to create added dimension, then painted them with silver acrylic paint.  I had a great time adding a combination of mists, gelatos and inks to get the colours I had in mind to echo those in the paper and the photo. I also added a couple of the intricate doilies to finish things off.  The detail on the doilies amazes me every time I look at them! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope I've inspired you get out your craft supplies and create something awesome!!

12 x 12 Layouts by Kim and by Shanna

Hello Crafty Friends!  Today we have two gorgeous layouts to share!  First up is Kim to share her vintage heritage styled layout called "Somewhere in Time"

Happy Friday friends! Today I would like to share with you my "Somewhere in Time" layout.
I started off this layout being inspired by one of my vintage photos from my collection. I love the kind of "Mona Lisa" smile on this lady and wanted to use her as my starting off point.

I used some lovely paper for the background which has a crackled effect on it, and it went perfectly with the vintage feel of the photo. I used a lot of sprays, paints and textures on the background to build up some layers and color. Then I got out my Bo Bunny Somewhere in Time paper and ephemera I also layered on some corrugated cardstock and gauze paper which picked up the blue tones in the other paper.

I have then layered on some of the new Renata Flourishes from Gina's Shop, and some lovely laces and trims from Craftsupplies1. The photo on the right has an element I received in a swap from Gina herself, (she's kind of a master at those!) and I thought it topped the flourish off nicely.

The upper left photo is one of the alarm clock frame ups with one of the hot air balloon charms from Craftsupplies1. I layered it on top of more of the Bo Bunny ephemera.

Finally, here you can see some of the chain border which I painted with some chalk inks and Shimmerz paints.
I hope you had fun taking a journey though time with me today!

Next up is Shanna to share her mixed media layout called "Explore Your path"

Hey everyone. Shanna here to help you get the weekend started. I hope you all get some crafty time this weekend. I know I am planning it.

I am beyond excited to share with you a new layout I created.

I had a blast using my all time favorite Gears Shape Set and I got to use a frame from the Scribbled Frames and Lines Set

First I created my background by using a stencil, some Twinkling H2O's, stamps, and modeling paste.

Then on the frame, first I gave it some gesso, then I added a little bit of red gelato.  After that I went crazy with glass bead gel. Then I covered it all up with twinkling H2O's. After that dried, I added a little bit of Bloom Spray.

For my gears I kept it simple and added some gold rub n buff. Then I went to town and embellished my page.

Grab your chipboard and have a blast!

Mixed Media Steampunk Canvas by Nancy

Hello Friends, it's Nancy here, and today I'm sharing an altered inverted 8 x 10 canvas that I created in a fun Steampunk style.  The adorable image and the papers behind it were digital freebies that I had printed  previously but hadn't decided on a project yet.  I thought that the Steampunk chipboard shapes from Gina's Designs really complimented this image.  I used the techniques described below on the chipboard shapes.

The butterfly, the hot air balloon, and the gears corner at bottom right were first given a light coat of gesso.  I always use a light touch with the gesso, usually just a dry brushing with a fan brush,  because I like the natural shading it provides when some of the natural chip color is coming through.  I then used a variety of different colored gelatos on the butterfly.  I blended the colors with a touch of water then let it dry.  To get the distressed and grungy look I was after, I sanded it back so some gesso showed through.  I followed that with a touch of Prima chalk ink in a burnt orange color.  By that point you couldn't even tell that I'd ever used the gelatos, but with each layer of color you add, you'll get more depth and dimension as an end result.  I added a bit of stickles here and there, some bead connectors and I coiled some copper wire for antennae.

On the balloon, I stamped a script stamp with perfect medium, then added shades of perfect pearls.  It has a beautiful sheen to it that doesn't show in the photos.  For the balloon overlay I embossed with copper embossing powder, sanded some of it off, then touched it up with Prima Chalk Ink in burnt orange.

For the gears, I simply ran it through my Big Shot in a dry embossing folder, then rubbed it with different shades of Gilder's Paste.

For the chipboard Word Ribbon Title of "Explore", I rubbed the raw chipboard with Prima Chalk Ink in the burnt orange shade, added a touch of Tim Holtz tarnished brass Distress Paint then rubbed gesso over the letters.

There's more info on how I created the texture on the canvas and the grungy flowers on my blog HERE.
